NEW YORK, May 12, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Noya Fields Family Group of Charitable Funds (www.noyafieldsfamily.org) announces their third major grant of 2017. After grants earlier this year to Grist and Suited For Success Veterans Program, this most recent grant provides general support to Our Children’s Trust for their efforts to address climate change through landmark Federal, state and global lawsuits, brought by youth, demanding that governments recognize our constitutional and public trust rights to a climate system capable of sustaining human life.
“I’ve followed the progress of the lawsuits since I first heard about them a year or so ago. Learning more about Our Children’s Trust, their efforts, seeing and watching the enthusiasm of all the youth plaintiffs acting on our collective behalf has been amazing and inspiring,” said Ken Fields, “I strongly believe that the path Our Children’s Trust is taking to secure the legal right to a healthy atmosphere and stable climate system is the best chance we have to ensure that youth and future generations inherit a safe and livable planet.”
About Our Children’s Trust:
Our Children’s Trust (www.ourchildrenstrust.org) leads a global campaign to elevate the voice of youth in the media and to support youth climate advocates in coordinated legal actions against federal and state governments, that will require government to implement science-based federal and state policy to return atmospheric CO2 concentrations to levels below 350 parts per million before the year 2100. Scientists have demonstrated that doing so will stabilize our climate system and de-acidify our oceans.
Our Children’s Trust supports legal actions that are pending and in development in U.S. federal court, in several U.S. state courts, in other nations’ courts, and in administrative rulemaking proceedings before several U.S. state agencies. They also support youth in grassroots advocacy to secure science-based climate recovery planning at the local government level.
