Perez Art Museum Art Of The Party Annual Gala

March 11, 2016 by Editorial

Perez Art Of The Party 2016

The Perez Museum’s 2016 Art of The Party Annual Gala was held last Friday. This event has quickly become one of the big social gatherings of the year in Miami and is the largest fundraiser of the museum annually. The past galas have drawn quite a crowd and this year was no exception, absolutely packed by any definition. Miami’s struggle to continually re-invent itself and rise up above its past infamy as “A Sunny Place For Shady People” has over the past decade or so focused around becoming much more of a cultural melting pot, specifically focusing on the arts. The transformation has been successful, if the price per square foot for a condo is any indicator and the museums namesake, Jorge Perez is an appropriate gauge.

As there are two sides to every coin, on the one hand an evening under the stars, overlooking Biscayne Bay, champagne in hand might seem very Marie Antoinette, on the other hand supporting the arts, artists, and providing a venue for free expression is undoubtedly a worthy cause.

Miami, has forever and will continue to always love a great party. Likewise, if we can all agree art enriches the soul and gives us pause to contemplation and hopefully draws diverse people and cultures together to better connect with each other, well opposites attract, we can accept Miami’s past, and encourage its future.

Feel like you want to run through the full set of images from the whole event, they’ve been uploaded to Flickr.
