Addressing climate change and protecting the environment collectively represent the greatest challenge that we as a planet will most certainly face this century. The climate is changing, the planet is warming and the burning of fossil fuels is the primary cause. The solution to this problem is quite simple, stop burning fossil fuels. Unfortunately the path to getting there is not so simple.
While individually we can adjust our fossil fuel consumption, put solar on our homes and businesses, drive an electric car and eat less steak, what we need is a global systematic overhaul to transition completely from dirty fuels to renewable energy. Changing the system in this case means changing the law, demanding that we, and future generations, have constitutional right to a healthy planet.
Best said in their own words, “Our Children’s Trust is a nonprofit organization, leading a coordinated global human rights and environmental justice campaign to implement enforceable science-based Climate Recovery Plans that will return atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations to below 350 ppm by the year 2100. We elevate the voice of youth, those with most to lose in the climate crisis, to secure the legal right to a healthy atmosphere and stable climate on behalf of all present and future generations.”
The Noya Fields Family Funds have provided multiple grants to Our Children’s Trust to support their legal efforts and for expert witness and research.
