New York City Debuts First All Electric City Bus

January 9, 2018 by Editorial

It’s about time. New York City, we believe it was today, debut its first completely electric public buses. Very cool. New York City has had hybrids for who knows how long now, but it’s awesome to see that we are now going one step further. Per the Ny Post: “The MTA buses will travel on the B32 route that goes between Brooklyn and Queens and the M42 and M50 routes in Midtown, according to Gov. Cuomo’s office. The zero-emissions buses, which the city will test for three years, are quieter than gas guzzlers, added Cuomo, who announced the leasing deal.”

“As we overhaul and reimagine the MTA, we have an opportunity to not only modernize our bus fleet but to also reduce emissions that impact the environment and public health,” Cuomo said in a statement. “This new program helps the MTA secure a cleaner and greener future while leveraging the latest in innovative advancements to push New York’s transit systems into the future.”
