Bloomberg HQ And JFK Parking Partner In Solar Remote Net Metering

January 3, 2016 by Editorial

Back in September Bloomberg, EnterSolar and JFK Airport parking completed the development of a 1,500 kilowatt solar PV system across three logistics facilities in Springfield Gardens Queens. Currently, according to Inhabitat the array is the largest in Queens and one of the largest in New York State, impressive in and of itself, however the project also happens be notable since it was structured as a Remote Net Metering installation. Remote Net Metering allows sites with poor solar characteristics, but significant onsite power consumption, to benefit from solar systems installed on an alternative site with excellent solar characteristics.

The project is estimated to generate 1.8 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy each year, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity used by more than 244 typical homes and is expected to offset over 1 million pounds of CO2 emissions.
